avast! Advanced Suite is available for upwards of 10 licenses (which covers up to 10 machines, of which up to two are servers + 10 Exchange or Linux MTA mailboxes). Generally, the maximum number of servers is determined as the number of licenses divided by ten, plus one. For example, a 24-license Advanced Suite would cover up to 3 servers. A 100-license pack covers up to 11 servers, and so on.

Pricing example

Imagine that your company is using:

• 89 workstations with Windows XP,
• 10 servers with Windows 2003 Server, one of those being a MS Exchange Server
• 89 linux mailboxes.

Traditionally, you'd need to purchase 89 licenses of avast! Professional Edition and 10 licenses of avast! Server Edition plus 89 licenses of avast! Exchange Server Edition and 89 mailbox licenses of avast! for Linux/Unix Servers.

That means for a 1 year maintenance contract you would need 10 avast! Server Editions (10 x $249), 89 avast! Exchange Server Editions (89 x $16.95), 89 avast! for Linux/Unix Server mailboxes (89 x $6.29) and 89 avast! Professional Editions (89 x $17.95). The final price in this case would be $6155.91.

If you take the Suite approach, however, you'll simply pay for 100 licenses of the Advanced Suite, that is 100 x $33.59 = $3359. That's a saving of $2796.91 (more than 45%)!

Volume discounts

As you can see from the table above, the price per license decreases with the number of licenses. In some cases, you can even purchase more licenses for less! For example, imagine you need protection for a 45-node network for 1 year. The list price of 45 licenses of avast! Advanced Suite is 45 x $49.95 = $2247.75; however, 50 licenses of the same product would cost just 50 x $40.95 = $2047.50! You don't have to use all of the licenses right away, but as your business grows they may become useful in the future.
